"We're looking for a new tenant for our restaurant, the Krone, starting this fall," confirmed SHV chairman Walter Vögel during a visit to the village, which is part of Sulzberg. "The current tenant can take over a restaurant business in a family environment."

Landlord Manuel Riedmann succeeded longtime landlord and proprietor couple Brigitte and Fritz Vetterl. After two years, he is handing over the business. "The restaurant itself is great," he emphasized in an interview with VOL.AT. He also describes the collaboration with the SHV as very good. "It's a bit too big for me as an individual," the restaurateur explains.

The new opportunity draws him from the Bregenzerwald to the Rhine Valley: "My aunt has the lamb in Lustenau and is passing it on to me." The municipality is looking for a successor, he explains. "This is a good opportunity for me." He isn't completely out of the loop, but will support the new tenant as much as possible – especially during the initial and transitional period.

According to the SHV Thal, the Krone has good conditions for a new takeover. "We have the inn in perfect condition, it's fully furnished," explains Vögel. The lease is subject to the condition "that a tenant couple or a tenant community can survive and live as economically as possible." The restaurant also includes a tenant apartment in the attic, which was built as part of an investment in 2016/17.

Riedmann confirms: "The house is in tip-top condition, ready to be passed on. It's in excellent condition. A lot has been done to it." He highlights the positive terms: The leasing process is very accommodating, and the apartment is also spacious.

The Krone is located practically next to the church in the center of Thal. In addition to the restaurant, the building also houses the Thalsaal (Thal Hall). According to Walter Vögel, events organized by the SHV Thal (Sunday Association of Thalers) regularly take place there. "The tenant of the inn can, must, and may exclusively manage events in the Thalsaal." These include primarily weddings, but also festivals, lectures, and concerts.

"Our Krone is central to village life," emphasizes the chairman of the self-help association. The association was founded around 35 years ago. From the very beginning, the goal was to secure and further develop public facilities for the village. The village economy model is "different from that of a city café or hotel." According to Vögel, a new tenant needs "good food, a very good overview of the organization, and good staff skills."
